A 41-year-old man died after crashing his pickup truck into a synagogue located on the outskirts of Detroit, Michigan, authorities said.
The collision occurred while people were inside the building. Jason Plotkin, who was participating in a Zoom meeting from the synagogue, said he heard the sudden impact and alarms before others began shouting.
Local emergency crews responded to the scene. Officials have confirmed the driver was killed and said an investigation is underway to determine the circumstances surrounding the crash.
Police have not immediately released the man’s identity or provided details on a possible motive. The synagogue sustained damage, and investigators continue collecting evidence and interviewing witnesses.
