Upcoming Season at the Adrienne Arsht Center
The Adrienne Arsht Center for the Performing Arts of Miami-Dade County, in partnership with Broadway Across America, will open the 2025–26 Broadway in Miami season with the South Florida premiere of the 50th-anniversary revival of THE WIZ. The production runs October 7–12, 2025, in the Ziff Ballet Opera House.
Cast and Creative Team
The revival features Miami native Amitria Fanae’ as Addaperle. Fort Lauderdale’s Kameren Whigham and Jacksonville’s Sai Anthony join the ensemble, with Anthony also serving as the understudy for the Scarecrow.
Based on L. Frank Baum’s The Wonderful Wizard of Oz, THE WIZ reimagines the classic story as an all-Black musical celebration. The score blends soul, gospel, rock and 1970s funk.
Schele Williams directs the revival, with choreography by JaQuel Knight. The principal cast includes Dana Cimone as Dorothy, Alan Mingo Jr. as The Wiz, Sheherazade as Glinda, Kyla Jade as Aunt Em/Evillene, D. Jerome as the Tinman, Cal Mitchell as the Lion and Elijah Ahmad Lewis as the Scarecrow.
