Alabama Folk Artist Andrew McCall to Be Celebrated at Gallery 905 Exhibition Opening

Gallery 905 is excited to present "Entangled," a solo exhibition showcasing the work of renowned Alabama folk artist Andrew McCall. The opening reception will take place on Thursday, August 7, at 5:30 p.m. McCall, popularly known as the "Vine Man," has dedicated over forty years to creating intricate baskets, furniture, and whimsical objects from natural and reclaimed materials. Utilizing wild wisteria, grape, and kudzu vines collected near his residence south of Montgomery, his art embodies both innovative craftsmanship and spiritual expression. Describing himself as a "God-taught artist," McCall emphasizes a spontaneous approach, allowing the vines to dictate his creative process: "Working with a vine is like dancing; you have to let it tell you what to do."
