Amanda Knox Opens Up About Her Childhood Conversations
Amanda Knox says she has been open with her children about the chapter of her life that led to her imprisonment.
Sharing Her Experience with Her Daughter
The 38-year-old—who was convicted in connection with the 2007 murder of her study-abroad roommate Meredith Kercher in Italy and later cleared by Italy’s highest court in 2015—shared how she described the ordeal to her 4-year-old daughter, Eureka.
Knox told Today that when Eureka began asking about the case about a year ago, she kept the explanation very simple. She said she told her daughter that as a young woman she traveled to Italy, made friends and was having fun, but then someone hurt a friend and the police mistakenly believed she was responsible, so she was put in jail.
She added that she closes the account in a way that satisfies her little girl: after being very sad in prison, Mommy proved she was innocent, returned home, met Daddy and they lived happily ever after. Knox says Eureka particularly loves that ending.
