APM Terminals and Andhra Pradesh Sign MoU to Modernize Ports
APM Terminals and the Government of Andhra Pradesh have signed a Memorandum of Understanding to modernize the state's port network with an investment of about $1 billion.
Strategic Vision for Andhra Pradesh's Logistics
Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu has set out a plan to position Andhra Pradesh as the Eastern Logistics Hub of India. The initiative is intended to strengthen the state’s role in maritime trade and logistics by integrating international standards and private-sector expertise.
Coastal Infrastructure Development
Andhra Pradesh’s coastline stretches roughly 1,053 km. Officials say the state aims to develop ports and fishing harbors at intervals of about 50 km to build a comprehensive coastal infrastructure that supports both international commerce and local fishing communities.
Current and Future Port Developments
At present, there are five operating non-major ports in the state, and four greenfield ports are expected to become operational by 2026. The MoU with APM Terminals is designed to accelerate these developments and improve terminal capabilities.
