Arkansas Tech Honors Faculty With Promotions, Tenure and Emerita Appointments

Arkansas Tech University Faculty Recognition Event

Arkansas Tech University held a reception on Friday, Aug. 15, at the Chambers Cafeteria West Dining Room to recognize faculty who received promotions, tenure or emeritus status for the 2025–26 academic year. Dr. Adolfo Santos, executive vice president for academic affairs and provost, led the event.

Honoring Dr. Penny Willmering

Dr. Penny Willmering was presented with the title of professor emerita in rehabilitation science. She earned her Ph.D. in rehabilitation psychology from the University of Wisconsin and said she chose Arkansas Tech because of its emphasis on teaching and its student-focused spirit.

Willmering joined the ATU faculty in 1999 and served as professor of rehabilitation science and program director until her retirement in 2021. Although she initially intended only a short stay, she remained connected to the program and continues to teach as an adjunct.
