Forgotten 1947 'Le Dix' Spurs Balenciaga's New Ten-Fragrance Line

Balenciaga is presenting a ten-piece perfume collection that reaches back to its origins, marking the fashion house’s most significant olfactory initiative in years. The project stems from a rediscovery that links the new line directly to Le Dix, the brand’s first fragrance from 1947. House archivists ended a 15-year search when they located a long-forgotten Le Dix bottle from 1947. That original flacon provided the creative and technical starting point for the new release. The new bottles are exacting recreations of the 1947 design, complete with the signature globular glass cap and a hand-tied ribbon. Each flacon was digitally scanned to replicate minute details and is offered refillable to extend its lifecycle. Packaging intentionally evokes the passage of time: boxes are given a subtle, aged patina and display the revived Le Dix logotype. Those vintage cues are then set within Balenciaga’s contemporary industrial-grey outer packaging to create a dialogue between past and present.
