Capvidia Announces Enhancement to MBDVidia for Interactive 3D Models
CHICAGO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Capvidia today announced a significant enhancement to MBDVidia: interactive, human-viewable 3D models delivered as HTML and synchronized with QIF and STEP AP242. The capability lets suppliers access OEM Model-Based Definition (MBD) without needing CAD software.
How it works
MBDVidia extracts standards-compliant QIF and STEP files from native CAD systems (including Creo, CATIA, SOLIDWORKS, and Autodesk) and produces a linked HTML viewable experience plus PDF output. Any modern web browser can display the interactive 3D geometry and PMI, giving procurement, manufacturing, quality, and shop-floor teams a consistent, authoritative representation.
Benefits for suppliers
- No CAD seats required: Stakeholders can open interactive 3D models and PMI in a browser.
- Faster, more accurate RFQs: Teams can inspect features, GD&T, and tolerances in 3D to price more reliably.
- Reduced mistakes: The HTML view is traceable to QIF/STEP and native CAD, preserving engineering intent.
