Carlton County Approves Zoning Requests for New Business Ventures
CARLTON — The Carlton County Board of Commissioners unanimously approved zoning requests on Tuesday, Aug. 13, clearing the way for a USDA-inspected meat processor near Wrenshall and an indoor cannabis cultivator near Sturgeon Lake.
Permitting Progress for Phi Society
Zoning administrator Chris Berg told commissioners that Phi Society has secured preliminary approval from the Minnesota Office of Cannabis Management and now needs county zoning clearance. The operation is planned at 3739 County Line Road, east of Moose Lake.
Phi Society intends to operate under a cannabis microbusiness license, which allows cultivation of up to 5,000 square feet indoors or up to a half-acre of mature flowering plants outdoors. Berg said the company does not plan to run a retail storefront; instead it will distribute product to licensed cannabis retailers.
