Carterville Water Service Disruption
CARTERVILLE, Ill. (WSIL) — Carterville residents faced another disruption to their water service Sunday, just hours after officials had ended a previous boil water advisory.
Line Rupture and Service Shutdown
City crews reported a rupture in a line adjacent to the town's water tower, forcing utilities to shut down service while repairs are underway. Officials warned the outage will persist until technicians can complete the fix.
Planned Water Safety Measures
Once the repairs are finished, the city plans to reissue a boil water notice to ensure water safety, authorities said.
Background of Previous Work
The problems follow work performed Saturday, when crews replaced a defective water main. That replacement, and the utility department's switch from the old main to the newly installed line, prompted the earlier boil water advisory and the temporary service interruption.
