Roadway Projects in Colorado Springs Starting Week of Aug. 18
City crews will begin a series of roadway projects in Colorado Springs the week of Aug. 18, including a multi-month bridge rehabilitation and several planned closures downtown and along South Academy Boulevard.
Woodmen Road Bridge Repairs
Woodmen Road Bridge repairs started this week on the structure that spans Academy Boulevard. Built in 2011, the bridge needs resurfacing and routine maintenance; the city estimates the work will take roughly three months and cost about $2.7 million.
Nighttime Repaving on Woodmen Road
In September, the city will follow with nighttime repaving of Woodmen between East Rockrimmon Boulevard and just past Olga Wilson Way. That paving will occur under single-lane closures and should finish in three to five weeks. The $1.6 million repaving is funded by the voter-approved 2C Road Improvement Program, with a second round of funding approved in 2024.
