Updated weather alerts

Gale Warning — remains in effect until 8 AM EDT Tuesday. West winds of 30 to 40 knots, with gusts up to 45 knots, will create waves of 11 to 16 feet. This affects the nearshore waters of Lake Erie from Geneva-on-the-Lake, OH to Ripley, NY, and the open waters of Lake Erie from Geneva-on-the-Lake, OH to Buffalo, NY. Dangerous waves could capsize or damage vessels and sharply reduce visibility.

Mariners should change plans to avoid these conditions: remain in port, take safe harbor, alter course, or secure vessels for hazardous seas.

Wind Advisory — remains in effect until 8 AM EDT Tuesday. West winds 20 to 30 mph with gusts up to 50 mph are expected in Ohio’s Ashtabula Lakeshore and Lake Counties and in Northern Erie County, Pennsylvania. Gusty winds may move unsecured objects, bring down tree limbs, and cause isolated power outages.

Drivers—especially operators of high-profile vehicles—should use extra caution, as strong gusts can make travel difficult.

Winter Weather Advisory — remains in

effect until 5 AM EDT Wednesday. Snow is expected, beginning as widespread snow this evening and transitioning to lake-effect snow late tonight through Tuesday night. Total snow accumulations are forecast between 3 and 7 inches, with winds gusting as high as 40 mph.

This advisory covers Crawford and Northern Erie Counties. Slick roads, including bridges and overpasses, are likely. Lake-effect bands can produce rapidly changing visibility and localized heavy snow that may impact the Monday evening and Tuesday morning commutes. Gusty winds could also bring down branches.

Motorists should slow down and avoid unnecessary travel. The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation and the Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission advise drivers to follow all restrictions. For current roadway information, visit www.511pa.com.
