Bamenda, 27 September 2025 — The Cameroon People’s Democratic Movement (CPDM) formally opened its regional campaign in Bamenda on Saturday, urging voters to re-elect President Paul Biya in the 12 October presidential poll.
At the party house gathering, former Prime Minister and North West regional campaign coordinator Philemon Yang argued that Biya’s long record of statecraft makes him the strongest choice among the 12 contenders. He told supporters that competence and proven leadership, not age, should determine voter preference.
"This is about capability and vision, not about years," Yang said, dismissing attacks focused on the president’s age and calling for attention to concrete plans rather than criticism without proposals.
Yang highlighted recent and planned investments in infrastructure — including roads, rail and airport projects — as essential to improving trade and mobility in the region. He also pledged that a new Biya term would prioritise policies to strengthen purchasing power and ease the cost-of-living pressures facing ordinary households.
