Event Launch and Opening Acts
The String Cheese Incident launched their Campout in the Pines weekend Thursday night in Eau Claire, Wisconsin, with the Del McCoury Band opening the festivities at Pines Music Park.
Scheduled Performances
STS9 is scheduled to join SCI on the bill tonight, and experimental jamgrass quartet Feed The Dog will perform a late-night Talking Heads tribute.
Night's Performances
Following the Del McCoury Band set, String Cheese played a single, extended performance that opened with “Smile” and “Close Your Eyes.”
Special Guest Appearances
Midway through the show Del McCoury stepped back onstage with his sons Rob and Ronnie. Del and SCI guitarist Bill Nershi shared vocals on a rendition of “Sittin’ On Top of the World.”
During the subsequent “Shenandoah Breakdown,” Rob McCoury delivered notable banjo lines while Ronnie added mandolin accompaniment.
