Walker Police Arrest Two Individuals in Connection with Storage Unit Burglary
Walker Police arrested two Denham Springs residents after investigators say wedding presents, including an electric scooter, were taken from a newly married couple’s storage unit.
Suspects Identified and Charged
Officers identified the suspects as Torrie D. Lacey, 44, and Jason Rex, 40. Both were booked on burglary and drug-related charges following the probe, authorities said.
Incident Details
The newlyweds returned to their storage unit on Aug. 2 to retrieve gifts and other belongings stored roughly a month earlier and found the unit nearly empty, according to Walker police.
Investigation and Evidence
A GPS tracker installed on the scooter led detectives to a trailer park on Walker South Road in Denham Springs. Initial searches at the tracked address did not locate the scooter.
Further inquiry revealed Lacey lived near that trailer park and rented a unit at the same storage facility as the victims, the department said. On Aug. 12, Walker officers, with detectives from the Livingston Parish Sheriff’s Office, interviewed Lacey and Rex.
