Netflix announces renewal of 'Dept. Q' for a second season
Netflix has greenlit a second season of the Edinburgh-set cold-case series Dept. Q, announcing the renewal three months after the show premiered in May.
Main cast and character overview
Matthew Goode leads as DCI Carl Morck, a brilliant investigator whose biting sarcasm has left him isolated within the police force. After a shooting that kills a young officer and leaves his partner paralysed, Morck is relegated to the basement as the lone member of the newly formed cold-case unit, Department Q.
Origin and purpose of the unit
The unit was initially created as a public-relations move to deflect attention from an overstretched and struggling police service. Morck soon assembles a band of outsiders determined to prove themselves and tackle cases no one else will.
Plot developments and investigation style
When the long-dormant disappearance of a prominent civil servant begins to show fresh leads, Carl returns to his disruptive but effective style of investigation, refusing to accept easy answers.
