Rescue of a Stray Dog Trapped in a Plastic Pretzel Jar
A stray dog suffering with her head stuck inside a large plastic pretzel jar has been rescued after search teams used a drone to find her in a cornfield.
Initial Reports and Concerns
Canine Rescue of Central Pennsylvania (CRCPA) first learned about the animal on August 17, when multiple people reported seeing the frightened dog wandering in York County with the container jammed down her neck. Volunteers feared she could not eat, drink or get adequate air while the jar remained in place.
Efforts to Locate the Dog
CRCPA volunteers tracked the animal on several occasions, but the terrified dog repeatedly slipped away into fields and would not allow people to approach. The rescue group raised the alarm on social media and enlisted partners, including FIND TOBY in PA, to broaden the search.
Drone Assistance and Rescue
Late Tuesday night, a fresh team of volunteers joined the effort, and drone pilot Dallas Fuhrman of Nighthawk Drone Services helped search from the air. Using the drone, the team located the dog at about 3 a.m. on Wednesday deep in a cornfield.
