Spring Hill Teacher Faces DUI Arrest After School Incident
A Spring Hill elementary teacher is facing a DUI arrest after police say he drove into a school fence on the second day of the new term.
Details of the Incident
Hernando County deputies report that 32-year-old Philip Scire, a teacher at Explorer K-8, was found unconscious in his vehicle in the rear parking lot around 11:43 a.m. Tuesday. The car remained in gear when officers arrived.
Responding deputies said they saw several empty single‑serving alcohol containers within the driver's reach and that Scire smelled of alcohol. He was taken to a hospital for evaluation.
Investigation and Arrest
Investigators say Scire repeatedly refused multiple requests to consent to a blood draw to determine his blood‑alcohol level. After he was released from the hospital, he was arrested on a DUI charge.
Scire was booked into the Hernando County Detention Center, posted a $1,000 bond, and is scheduled to appear in court on Sept. 3. Authorities note he had a prior DUI arrest in Broward County in 2014.
