Fall Sweater Edit: Cozy Finds and a Closet Refresh

I spent Tuesday shooting Thanksgiving content with the women from Beek, but the real story began the day before when I went hunting for my favorite oversized fall sweater.

On Monday afternoon my sweater pile looked like a tornado hit my closet. I was tossing cardigans, chunky knits, and pullovers until, after too much digging, I found the sweater tucked in the one place I hadn’t checked.

Since everything was already in disarray, I took the chance to reorganize my sweater shelf. I folded, sorted, and moved my go-to pieces—oversized knits, chunky turtlenecks, and cozy crewnecks—to the front so grabbing them is quick and easy.

There’s something about fall sweaters that instantly makes the season feel snug: rich textures, relaxed silhouettes, and autumnal colors that work for both dressing up and lounging with a warm drink.

The Thanksgiving shoot turned out lovely, but the real win was a neatly stacked sweater collection ready to carry me through fall and into winter.

We’re heading out of town to celebrate TJ’s birthday, so I’ll be offline for a few days. I’ll return the week of the 13th with October’s capsule.

Structured cardigan

I bought this structured cardigan last January.

It has the soft, plush feel of a knit but holds a blazer-like shape, making it both comfortable and tailored. It comes in multiple colors, runs true to size, and is a reliable pick for the colder months.

Easy v-neck

A v-neck is a fall staple—perfect over a tee, worn alone for an effortless look, or layered beneath a jacket. My favorite lightweight option is the Flynn from Jenni Kayne. I also own a thicker, more oversized version from Quince that works well when I want extra warmth.

Boyfriend cocoon cardigan

I’ve loved the oversized boyfriend cardigan for years and own versions in black, oatmeal, grey, and a chocolate brown. My Jenni Kayne pieces and the Quince version are nearly identical, with Jenni Kayne running just a touch thicker and slouchier.

Turtleneck sweater

A roomy turtleneck feels like being wrapped in a blanket—ideal for chilly days. I wore an oversized Porter sweater constantly last season and have found a very similar alternative that offers the same cozy versatility.

Cashmere crewneck

This inexpensive cashmere crewneck is one of my best buys. It looks great on its own or layered over a white tee. For a fitted silhouette buy your usual size; I sized up two sizes for a longer, looser fit and more styling options.

Oversized crewneck sweater

My two favorites here come from Jenni Kayne and Quince. The Quince grey is soft cashmere with a relaxed but not overly large fit. The Cocoon Alpaca from Jenni Kayne drapes beautifully if you prefer a more oversized look, though it may bother those sensitive to wool.

Have a lovely few days, and I’ll see you after the birthday weekend with the October capsule.
