Incident Overview
Four adolescents between the ages of 13 and 15 were wounded in a shooting Friday afternoon near a playground in the Bronx, police said.
Details of the Shooting
The incident occurred on Tratman Avenue between St. Peters Avenue and Overing Street, a short distance from The Pearly Gates playground in Westchester Square, at about 4 p.m. on Aug. 22, 2025.
According to authorities, a 13-year-old boy and a 14-year-old girl were struck in the left leg. A 14-year-old boy suffered a grazing wound to the foot, and a 15-year-old boy was grazed in both legs.
Response and Conditions of Victims
Emergency responders took all four victims to Jacobi Hospital. Police described their conditions as stable.
Eyewitness Accounts
Witnesses said multiple shots were fired. Victor Carrion, 61, who works as a security guard, said he heard at least five gunshots and saw people fleeing the scene. He described the girl collapsing and bleeding heavily before nearby teens carried her down the block.
