Honoring Purple Heart Recipients at the White House
A small Henderson County delegation was among those honored in the East Room of the White House on August 7 as President Donald Trump marked National Purple Heart Day.
Event Setting and Attendance
Against a backdrop of crystal chandeliers and historic portraits, fewer than 150 invited guests gathered as the president delivered remarks recognizing Purple Heart recipients from across the nation.
Delegation Representation
Representing Caring for America of Henderson County, the group stood alongside dozens of fellow honorees. The delegation included Purple Heart recipients Major Bill Malone (U.S. Army) and his wife, Ann; Corporal Jerome Wemitt (U.S. Marine Corps) and his wife, Cynthia; and Ronnie Payne (U.S. Army) with his wife, Lulu.
