WDSU has declared a First Warning Weather Alert Day as multiple advisories and warnings are in effect across the region.
A Wind Advisory covers the Southshore through 7 p.m. Expect wind gusts up to 40 mph, which could make travel and outdoor activities difficult.
Boaters should use caution: a Gale Warning is also in place until 7 p.m. Gusts may reach 40 knots with 4–6 foot seas on Lake Pontchartrain, Maurepas and Borgne.
A Red Flag Warning runs from 1 p.m. to 7 p.m. for parts of the Northshore, River Parishes and Bayou Parishes. Avoid any outdoor burning during this window.
A Freeze Warning affects the entire Northshore of southeast Louisiana and south Mississippi tonight. Overnight lows are forecast in the upper 20s to low 30s.
There’s no widespread concern for household pipes, but sensitive tropical plants and newly bloomed flowers should be covered to prevent frost damage.
Temperatures rebound by Thursday into the 70s and are expected to reach the 80s by the weekend.
