Former FBI Director James Comey Discusses Taylor Swift's Influence
Former FBI director James Comey recently discussed the outsized role Taylor Swift plays in his household in a video posted to his Substack page.
Comey's Background and Personal Connection to Swift
Comey, who led the FBI from 2013 until his dismissal by President Donald Trump in 2017, recounted how Swift’s music has accompanied his family through different stages of life. He previously served as U.S. attorney for the Southern District of New York and as U.S. deputy attorney general. Comey also noted that he had long identified as a Republican before declaring himself unaffiliated in 2016.
His Appreciation for Swift's Music
The video began with Comey saying he had watched an episode of the New Heights podcast featuring Travis and Jason Kelce that included Swift. From there he explained how her songs have woven into his family routines.
Comey said he has attended two of Swift’s concerts and paid for family members to go. He described being part of a “family Swiftie” group chat and even listening to her albums while doing chores like cutting the grass.
