Fronted by founding member Dorian Deveraux, JoE have issued a new single titled “Somewhat Happy” today. The track precedes their forthcoming album, which is scheduled for release on Metropolis Records on September 12.
Artist's Description of “Somewhat Happy”
Deveraux describes “Somewhat Happy” as “the apocalyptic post breakup song you didn’t know you needed.” The lyrics chart the uneasy aftermath of a destructive relationship, the slow return of clarity, and recognizing an ex for who they truly were.
Musical and Thematic Evolution
Musically and thematically, the single follows in the wake of July’s heavier cut “Soul Crusher,” continuing the band’s recent shift toward a harder, uncompromising palette.
