Chicago — Drakkar Klose secured a unanimous decision over Edson Barboza at UFC 319 and announced he will stop publicly calling out future opponents.
Speaking backstage at the United Center with media outlets including Cageside Press, Klose (16-3-1) said he no longer plans to call out fighters because the matchups rarely follow his requests.
“Every time I call out a name, I get somebody totally different,” he told reporters. “I’m not going to call out anyone anymore.”
Klose's Preferred Opponents and Personal Story
Klose did identify several bouts he would like to pursue, particularly rematches with fighters who have beaten him. He singled out Beneil Dariush and Joel Alvarez as preferred opponents.
The Alvarez fight, from December 2024, carries special weight. Klose revealed his brother, Tuan Williams, had been murdered months earlier — stabbed to death by a mentally ill man Williams had been trying to help — and that the loss affected his state of mind going into the bout.
