Loyola University Chicago Expands Its Historic Property Collection
Loyola University Chicago has expanded its local footprint with the addition of two neighboring historic houses in Rogers Park, one of which was designed by Frank Lloyd Wright.
Donation and Funding
TAWANI Property Management, founded by Col. Jennifer Pritzker — a cousin of Illinois Gov. J.B. Pritzker — donated the Emil Bach House and the Lang House on Sheridan Road to Loyola in January. The gift included $1 million earmarked for maintenance and operating costs.
Current Use and Exploration
University staff are exploring potential uses for the properties while already hosting private meetings and special events at the sites, said Judy Sunvold, Loyola’s director of conference services and concierge.
About the Lang House
The Lang House dates to about 1920 and carries a strong period character. Documentation that accompanied the donation notes the first owner was a milliner who ran shops at the Palmer House and the Bismarck Hotel downtown.
