The Matthew Perry Foundation Partners with Healing Appalachia
The Matthew Perry Foundation has formalized a partnership with Healing Appalachia, the country’s largest recovery-focused music festival scheduled for Sept. 19–20 in Ashland, Kentucky.
Support for Volunteers and Community Engagement
Under the agreement, the foundation will supply housing and basic services for more than 400 volunteers who will camp on-site. An additional 500 day volunteers from recovery programs across Appalachia will also take part in festival activities.
Long-term Philanthropic Efforts
MPF and Hope in the Hills say the collaboration will extend beyond the two-day event. Together they plan to launch philanthropic efforts aimed at broadening access to grassroots recovery programs nationwide.
Community and Support in Healing
Dave Lavender, board president of Hope in the Hills, emphasized the importance of community in healing. He invoked Matthew Perry’s words: “Addiction is too powerful for anyone to defeat alone. But together, and one day at a time, we can beat it down,” and said Healing Appalachia will unite people in support of recovery.
