Progress of R and H Stable’s Mo Plex Ahead of Pennsylvania Derby
R and H Stable’s New York-bred Mo Plex is progressing well as he readies for the Grade 1, $1 million Pennsylvania Derby, a nine-furlong test for 3-year-olds scheduled Sept. 20 at Parx Racing.
Race History and Achievements
The colt, who has earned $775,000 with a 9-5-1-2 record, captured the Grade 3 Sanford and the state-bred Funny Cide last summer. He added a Listed Bay Shore score at Aqueduct in April and took the nine-furlong Grade 3 Ohio Derby at Thistledown on June 21.
Recent Performances and Training
Most recently, Mo Plex set the pace and finished fourth in the Grade 2 Jim Dandy, trailing Sovereignty — the heavy favorite for Saturday’s Grade 1 DraftKings Travers — by 10 1/4 lengths.
Trainer Linda Englehart opted to bypass Thursday’s Albany and Saturday’s Travers, preferring to give the colt more time and aim for the Pennsylvania Derby.
