Middleburg Incident Involving County Employee
MIDDLEBURG — A Northumberland County Children and Youth employee has been charged with impersonating a public official after allegedly attempting to mislead a police inquiry into injuries sustained by her grandson.
Identification of the Defendant
State police at Selinsgrove identified the defendant as Keira M. Ruiz Ruiz, 42, of Sunbury. Authorities say she is accused of posing as an official to influence the investigation into her son.
Allegations of Impersonation
Investigators allege Ruiz Ruiz used her county work email to send communications to Dr. Pat Bruno, a pediatrician who specializes in child abuse cases.
Background of the Investigation
The outreach came after a police probe into the April 28 treatment of the child at Geisinger Medical Center in Danville. Medical staff reported the infant had broken ribs in various stages of healing.
Details of the Case
Ruiz Ruiz’s son is accused of assaulting his five-month-old child, prompting the criminal investigation. Charges against Ruiz Ruiz relate to her alleged effort to interfere with that inquiry.
