Oklahoma Weather Update: Cooler Temperatures and Rainfall Expected
Oklahoma residents are preparing for a significant shift in the weather as August winds down. Meteorologists say a strong cold front will move through the state early next week, ushering in much cooler conditions.
Weekend Weather
A few remaining summerlike days are expected this weekend. Saturday through Monday should see daytime highs near the upper 90s with mostly clear skies statewide.
Cold Front Arrival
That pattern ends on Tuesday, August 26, when the cold front arrives. Daytime highs that day are forecast roughly between 69 and 77 degrees — about a 20-degree drop from the weekend — with readings generally holding in the 70s and 80s through the end of August and into early September.
Rainfall and Flooding Risks
The front will also increase rain chances across Oklahoma. The National Weather Service in Norman warns of multiple rounds of moderate-to-heavy rainfall beginning early Monday and continuing into the week.
