FROM IKHILI EBALU, BENIN CITY
Edo State governor Monday Okpebholo has approved a wide-ranging recruitment drive to bring thousands of youths into the state civil service. The move is aimed at reducing unemployment and accelerating development across Edo.
Campaign Rally Announcement
The governor announced the approval at an All Progressives Congress (APC) campaign rally in Irrua, Esan Central Local Government Area, ahead of the Edo Central senatorial bye-election scheduled for August 16.
Infrastructure Developments
Okpebholo said his administration is also delivering infrastructure in Edo Central, including a modern market in Irrua, the dualisation of the Ekpoma–Ubiaja road, and the extension of a 33kV power line to reduce erratic electricity supply.
Road Reconstruction and Support for Re-election
He recalled his role in facilitating the reconstruction of the Benin–Auchi–Okene road, noting that the project is moving forward with support from President Bola Tinubu.
The governor urged residents to support President Tinubu’s bid for re-election in 2027, describing him as “a leader who loves Edo State.”
