SEPTA Implements Service Reductions Amid Funding Debate
SEPTA will implement significant service reductions starting Sunday, including the elimination of 32 bus routes, while state lawmakers continue to debate new transit funding in Harrisburg.

On Monday, about 20 residents gathered at the Northeast Philadelphia district office of state Sen. Joe Picozzi to protest the impending cuts. Demonstrators chanted, camped out and shared personal stories about the effect reduced service would have on daily life.
“I like Joe Picozzi, but I need him to listen to us, his constituents,” said Marion Brown of Fox Chase, who was among those at the office.
Legislative Developments and Funding Plans
Picozzi, a Republican, proposed a two-year funding plan last week that would draw on capital funds earmarked for infrastructure. That measure passed the Senate but stalled in a House committee.
