City Plans for Regional Sports and Recreation Complex
ROCHESTER — The city has scheduled key decisions in October and November that will move forward plans for a regional sports and recreation complex, even as some residents urge changes to better serve the community.
Development and Financing Tracks
City staff indicated two parallel tracks are underway: securing financing and preparing for construction. Deputy City Administrator Aaron Parrish said officials plan to advance both areas in the coming weeks.
Upcoming Council Meetings
On Oct. 6, the Rochester City Council is expected to be asked to seek bids for up to $65 million in bonds, with repayment tied to sales tax revenue. The same meeting is slated to consider authorizing construction bids and approving a contract with a facility operator.
If those steps proceed, formal approval of the bond sale and construction contracts is anticipated on Nov. 17, city staff told the council during a study session Monday.
