Disturbing Tale of the 'Man in the Fields' Ritual
A TikToker known as Megan (@thequeercrypt) recounted a disturbing tale about a woman named Cora who tried the so-called "man in the fields" ritual and soon regretted it.
The Ritual and Its Promises
The ritual summons an unseen presence to stand in your yard while you complete a set of household tasks inside. Participants must lock and secure the house, prepare a designated safe room — typically with a crucifix — and follow strict timing rules. If you succeed within the allotted time, folklore promises protection: physical safety for a year, or in some variations both physical and financial protection, sometimes even immunity from consequences for a year.
Cora's Experience
Cora chose the easiest option, the three-hour version, which supposedly grants a full year of physical safety — reportedly down to avoiding even minor injuries like paper cuts. At 9:00 p.m., she stepped into her backyard and repeated the ritual phrase, "But who will scare the crows away?" seven times. Immediately after the seventh repetition, she heard a voice respond, "That's not your biggest problem."
