Sharon Stone Addresses Reboot of Basic Instinct
Sharon Stone has made it clear she will not be reprising her role in the newly proposed reboot of Basic Instinct.
Details of the Reboot
The project, described by its writer Joe Eszterhas as an “anti-woke” reimagining, is reportedly being developed for Amazon MGM Studios. Eszterhas is said to be receiving around $4 million for the effort.
Stone's Response to the Reboot
Asked about the reboot by Today (via Dark Horizons), Stone dismissed the idea of coming back, pointing to her experience with the 2006 sequel. She said, “If it goes the way the one I was in went, then I would just say I do not know why you would do it. Go ahead. Good fucking luck!”
Background on the Original Film
Stone first played Catherine Tramell in Paul Verhoeven’s 1992 thriller, in which she portrayed an enigmatic author and prime suspect in a murder probe led by Michael Douglas’ Detective Nick Curran. The original film was a major commercial hit and helped cement Stone’s profile in Hollywood.
