Protest Outside Tucson Office Against Big Beautiful Bill
TUCSON, Ariz. — Roughly 100 people gathered with signs outside Congressman Juan Ciscomani’s Tucson office to protest his support of the so-called Big Beautiful Bill.

The demonstration, organized by the Arizona Alliance for Retired Americans and billed as a “Silver Sit-In,” targeted provisions in the bill that protesters say would cut federal programs such as Medicaid and SNAP.
Concerns About Federal Program Cuts
Dora Vasquez, executive director of the AARA, warned the proposed cuts would force many older and low-income Arizonans to choose between health care, food and utilities, and said rolling back these supports risks deepening poverty.
More than 1.5 million Arizonans depend on some form of federal assistance, including Medicaid, organizers noted. Protesters expressed concern that Social Security could be a future target and said they were demonstrating to protect the program for themselves and future generations.
