Dawson Springs residents seeking relief from summer heat have a new destination: the Squeeze In Scoop Shop. The family-owned ice cream parlor opened Friday at 109 East Railroad Ave., in the building long remembered as the original Squeeze In diner.

Heather explained the family relocated from North Carolina about seven years ago, drawn by Dawson Springs’ small-town appeal and outdoor recreation. The couple considered several concepts for the compact 9-by-110-foot lot, built in 1931, before settling on an ice cream shop as a family-friendly option that wouldn’t compete with existing businesses.
