Nathaniel Staehling Named Team Captain at North Dakota State University
FARGO — Nathaniel Staehling, a former Brainerd Warrior, has been selected as one of six team captains for the North Dakota State University football program.
Captain Responsibilities and Teammates
Staehling, a junior linebacker for the Bison, will share captain duties with quarterback Cole Payton, wide receivers Bryce Lance and Chris Harris, linebacker Logan Kopp, and defensive tackle Jaxon Duttenhefer.
Player Profile and Performance
The 6-foot-2, 238-pound Staehling appeared in five games last season before suffering a season-ending injury. He recorded four tackles on the year, including three in his final appearance against Illinois State.
Earlier in the season, Staehling notched a tackle for loss and recovered a fumble in NDSU’s home opener versus Tennessee State.
Academic Achievements and Recognition
Off the field, he earned recognition on the Missouri Valley Football Conference Honor Roll and received the MVFC Commissioner’s Academic Excellence Award.
