ROSELAND — State agencies and local businesses have opened their doors to help residents and employees affected by the massive explosion and fire that blanketed Roseland in ash and burning oil over the weekend.
Details of the Incident
The blast occurred Friday afternoon at Smitty’s Supply. An evacuation zone remains in effect across the Tangipahoa Parish town as firefighters continue operations; officials report the blaze is roughly 90% contained.

The Environmental Protection Agency has taken the lead in investigating the cause of the fire and coordinating environmental response efforts.
Local Business Support
Local businesses have stepped in to support relief efforts. The Amite Subway is providing a free six-inch classic sandwich and small fountain drink to first responders and evacuees at its West Oak Street location. The offer runs through Monday.
