A 14-year-old girl was left with serious injuries Friday evening after an SUV struck her bicycle in Taunton.

The collision occurred just after 5:30 p.m. on Tremont Street, according to Taunton police.

Authorities said the SUV driver remained at the scene and is cooperating with investigators as the crash is being examined.

Police noted this was one of two major incidents their department responded to within the same hour. The other crash, at the Lakeville town line, involved two vehicles and a motorcycle.
