Southeastern Michigan Ska-Punk Outfit The Boy Detective Returns
The band dropped the horn-forward lead track “Beth Truss” today, paired with a fresh music video. Their upcoming album, Disco Lunch, is scheduled for release on November 7 via Punkerton Records.
About the New Single
Recorded by Roger Lima of Less Than Jake, “Beth Truss” captures the group at peak intensity. The song features driving interplay from the rhythm section, chant-ready gang vocals built for packed rooms, and one of the tightest horn lines in contemporary American ska. It serves as the first glimpse of an album that condenses two decades of riffs, ideas, and ska-core chaos into a high-energy record that insists listeners move.
Band's Perspective
Vocalist Benny Capaul says the track began as an older idea that was pulled out and reshaped into a singalong-ready, earworm chorus with the band’s signature gang vocal approach. “You’ll end up screaming these parts and wanting to rage,” he adds, closing with a wink: “In Beth we Truss!”
