Venezuelan Man Donates Kidney to Brother in Chicago-Area Transplant
A Venezuelan man who was granted temporary release from U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement custody has donated a kidney to his ailing brother in a Chicago-area transplant, his legal team said.

José Gregorio González was allowed a supervised release from the Broadview ICE facility in April so he could care for his dying sibling and be evaluated as a potential kidney donor. González had been detained earlier this year while accompanying his brother to a dialysis appointment.
Details of the Transplant
His brother, José Alfredo Pacheco of Cicero, was living with end-stage kidney disease and required a transplant. The operation, performed Friday at a hospital in the Chicago area, was reported as successful.
