The Rainmaker's Successful Premiere
The Rainmaker, the first original scripted series released under Versant’s banner, opened to strong viewership for USA Network.
Viewership Achievements
The legal drama attracted 2.2 million viewers across its first three days, aided by a simulcast rollout on five Versant channels and streaming on Peacock. Versant says this made it the most-watched original series premiere in its portfolio since Syfy’s Resident Alien debuted in 2021.
Comparison with Other Premieres
On linear television, The Rainmaker ranked as the top scripted cable original premiere of 2025, delivering 39% more viewers than TNT’s Librarians: Next Chapter, which placed second. Versant noted that overall scripted premieres on cable this year have been fewer than in recent seasons.
Overall Viewership
To date, the series has reached 6.3 million viewers on linear TV, the company reported.
Series Details
The show is an adaptation of John Grisham’s novel and airs tonight at 10 p.m. ET on USA Network. Produced by Lionsgate and Blumhouse, the series is led by showrunner and executive producer Michael Seitzman.
