Crime Figures Presented to Vicksburg Board
Crime figures presented to the Vicksburg Board of Mayor and Aldermen Monday show a mixed pattern for July: fewer residential and auto burglaries, but a sharp increase in vehicle thefts.
Auto Theft and Burglaries
The Vicksburg Police Department recorded seven auto thefts in July, up from a single incident in June.
Auto burglaries declined from 16 in June to seven in July. Residential burglaries also fell, from four cases in June to three in July.
Details of Auto Burglaries
A notable detail: June’s auto burglaries included four incidents involving secured vehicles and 12 involving unsecured vehicles. All seven auto burglary reports in July involved unsecured cars.
Department Activities and Crime Statistics
Other July totals reported by VPD included 4,311 calls for service, 1,149 reports taken and 217 arrests. The department also issued 148 warrants, 212 citations, 28 warnings and seven DUI charges.
