U.S. and UK Announce New Sanctions Targeting Iranian Oil Networks
The United States and the United Kingdom have announced a new package of sanctions aimed at disrupting networks that transport Iranian crude oil overseas.
U.S. Designations and Actions
The U.S. Treasury designated 13 entities linked to shipping and oil trade operating out of Hong Kong, mainland China, the UAE, and the Marshall Islands. Eight tankers were also blacklisted in the same action.
U.S. officials singled out Greek national Antonios Margaritis, accusing him of running a network that moves Iranian oil using multiple companies and vessels. Named firms include Ares Shipping Limited in Hong Kong and Comford Management in the Marshall Islands.
Several of the vessels listed carry flags of convenience, such as the Panama-flagged Adeline G and Kongm, and the Lafit registered to São Tomé and Príncipe.
Targeting Chinese Operations
The U.S. State Department separately targeted two Chinese operators that manage terminals used to receive Iranian crude from previously sanctioned tankers: Qingdao Port Haiye Dongjiakou Oil Products Co (Shandong) and Yangshan Shengang Interna...
