Amazon Prime Video ended The Wheel of Time after three seasons, and one of the show's actors says she's still reeling from the decision months later.
Natasha O'Keeffe, who joined the series as Lanfear in seasons two and three, told Collider the cast had hoped for a renewal. She said season three felt poised to expand the story and that the cancellation left the team "really gutted."
O'Keeffe added that there was no proper goodbye among cast and crew because everyone assumed they would reconvene for a fourth season. Now, she says, the cast is trying to move forward: "You take the hit, dust yourself off and keep going," she told the outlet.
The Wheel of Time was one of several high-profile fantasy projects that emerged after Game of Thrones, with Amazon also producing The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power. Prime adapted Robert Jordan's novels for television and delivered three seasons before pulling the plug in spring.
Critics generally received the adaptation well; the series holds an 88% critic score on Rotten Tomatoes. Still, reports suggest viewership levels and the show's high production costs played a role in Amazon's decision to cancel it.
